NEW CHARACTER!

Hey, everyone. It's Brad here with another original character.

Meet Connor Blake. He's your normal teenager, heading off to college before slipping through the dimensional cracks and ending up on Sanctuary.

Well, he would be normal if it weren't for the semi-sentient magical amulet that's fused to his chest, granting him unknown magical abilities. They're mostly unknown because the amulet is kind of an asshole and doesn't cooperate well with Connor.

Which is a shame because he's a HUGE fan of all things nerd. Sci-fi, fantasy, superheroes, he loves all of it and sees the amulet as his way to become a hero. Unfortunately you don't become a hero after a short montage of training so he's still pretty terrible at it.

But he is a very nice boy, if socially awkward and skittish, and kind of stoked to be in the sort of place he's only read about or seen on TV. He apologizes in advance for all the fanfic he may or may not have written about some of your characters.

New Player!!

I don't know how many of you I know already, so I'ma introduce myself completely anyway!

Hi everyone, my name is Sly and I am a brand new player. As of several days ago, anyway - my app was all approved, but I went braindead briefly. BUT I AM HERE NOW. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I am an accountant. I have been RPing for many years, but this is my first time on Dreamwidth specifically. I can be shy with new people, but I promise everyone that I am very friendly and love email and IM and all that. Reach me at anonymsly[at]gmail and let's rap! Or PM me and we'll talk that way.

As my first character, as some of you might have gathered from the journal, I bring you one Barry Allen, AKA The Flash! (Just 'Flash' is fine if you're using it like a name. He doesn't need to hear 'hey how's it going, The Flash'. So awkward.) For those of you who know the canon, Barry's exit point is the very end of S1. I the player have seen nothing of S2 or later, including anything of Legends continuity yet. (Player and character are equally ignorant, this way.)

Long story short (too late): new player, new character, thrilled to be here!

Many apologies...

I know this is about the third time I've had to do this, but my struggle to keep up with life (and find my way out from under a lot of stress, depression, and related emotional turmoil) continues to take it's toll on me. It's been at least three weeks since I've managed to do tags and, in the interest of trying to get back on track, I've gone ahead and let a few threads drop.

As of right now I'm caught up on tags (not counting any replies that have come through today), so anything I haven't replied to is a thread I let go. If I dropped anything that anyone wants to keep writing on, please let me know and I'll pick it back up. Also, if I replied to a thread and it's too old for you, please feel free to drop it yourself.

I'm really hopefully that I can keep up with a more reasonable reply schedule going forward, and I'm going to be giving it my very best shot. I know a lot of us have big life things and stress going on, and I appreciate everyone being so kind and patient. You guys are awesome.

I should've said something sooner, especially considering I'm in the middle of running a plot. A couple of really terrific opportunities just came up for me, so most of my attention is focused elsewhere at the moment.

Black Market stuff

I've been talking to the mods about Len here, and things he can do here in Sanctuary

He's going to be making a play to take over the Black Market on Sanctuary. He won't be able to control it all (as much as he hates me for this, because he's a greedy bastard) but he's certainly going to be moving towards taking some of it over, and the ghost ship should be able to give him an in. I want to plot out some CR relating to this, as he's likely to need a) help, and b) customers (and also c), arguments with npcs that may turn a little violent) to get going. He wants to be in charge, he's happy for people to do day to day work. I know this is likely to put him at odds with the law enforcement, but let's face it, once Barry Allen apps here, that's going to happen anyway!

Anyway, I'm around a lot over the next few weeks in between packing and stuff, so you can either PM me, email me (my email addy is on the wiki) or contact me over Slack. Love to talk it out with people!

Hi *waves* Heather here.

I just apped River Song (in addition to River Tam) and if you know any other characters named River obviously drop me a line because apparently I'm collecting them. She will be arriving later in the week as I'm spending the US holiday at the pool and then on Tuesday/Wednesday I have to travel for work.

River comes from Doctor Who between her night on Darillium with Twelve and her trip to the Library where she meets Ten. She is a complicated space time event. She is a little bit of a psychopath, but only like every other Tuesday. She is human plus timelord, but mostly she doesn't talk about that. Or really her life at all except to drop hints and be teasing. She's very good at teasing.

She's lived her life popping in and out of the Doctor's and her parents lives and really anywhere that looked interesting. Or where there was something to steal. Or a mystery to solve. I figure she'll like Santuary just fine, after she figures out how a girl (can you call a woman over 200 a girl?) gets along without time travel. And the Doctor (if that's possible).

Hey everyone!

As of this weekend I will be excited to debut my new and far more social pup, Miia! Miia is a central character from the anime and manga series Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou (commonly known as Monster Musume, and in English known as Every Day Life with Monster Girls). Despite being non-human, Miia is a native of modern day Earth, though if anyone mistakes her for an alien species that will be understandable and even encouraged!

Miia is a demi-human species known as a Lamia, and will be immediately recognizable as being non-human. As far as the obvious goes, from the pelvis down she is twenty-two feet of pure python and has the strength and agility to match. In addition to this she has gold eyes with slitted pupils, fangs, scaled pointed ears, and patches of scales that continue up her sides and along the cheeks of her face.

That being said! She (while initially and understandably anxious) is a very social and affectionate girl. Hardcore. She's bubbly, a bit air-headed, demanding and wants all of the attention all of the time. She has no sense of personal space and will gladly climb characters she has deemed likable like trees. ~~And mark them as her territory while doing so, so enjoy smelling hardcore like snake.~~ As such I will be setting up a permissions page on her journal and strongly encourage everyone to tag in, as with Miia's tactile tendencies (read: prone to constricting) it can feel a little god-moddy to have her wound all up on other people's characters.

She's also is a little romance and procreation crazy, so once she realizes her love affair with her human significant other from canon is no longer available, she will move on to newer targets. As she's from an adult comedy anime, you can probably guess how subtle she is when making advances. Simply put: Not remotely. In fact, she often crosses the line into sexual harassment. As a result, if you have viable male pups, I would also suggest including whether or not as a player you are comfortable with her pursing (whether successful or not) your character on her permissions.

She's just a lot to handle, okay?

Ghost Ship - Plot Update

Hey gang!

I'm about ready to start the Ghost Ship plot. Before I do:

1) A last call for participants, since I don't want to shut anyone out who wants in. As of right now this is my list:
* Hawk, to discover the ship of the dead
* Kate, Jack; Scott, Sabine -- to investigate
* River, Alice, for ghost encounters that stop short of possession
* Sebastian, Wanderer, Eric, Marie, and Scott for possession
* Maggie, Molly, to help Sabine with Scott

There's still room for: (i) investigation/speculation; (ii) ghost encounters; (iii) ghost possession.

2) I will make a gathering post for the encounters and possessions that will span several days, so not everyone is possessed at the same time. That will be the only place that I will play ghosts for you--for encounters, as requested. Otherwise, you're free to have your possessed characters acting out the possession in any way that you want--ie, private threads with people who aren't possessed, one-shots, EPs, and so on.

3) Every character that is possessed will have to encounter Sabine to get unpossessed. Please let me know in comments if a) you want to thread that, b) you'd prefer to handwave it, or c) it's all right for me to tag either your TL in the gathering post or an EP you post to play out the exorcism.

4) Questions, comments, concerns?

Alien in the house

Because I apparently can't stay away from aliens, I bring you Bat'ai Mertahl.

Bat'ai is a three year resident of Sanctuary and runs a junk shop just outside the black market. He doesn't sell illegal or banned items, but he doesn't ask a lot of questions when people bring tech or machinery in to be repaired either. He's not a stickler for provenance, something that is something of a thorn in the side of law enforcement. If it's something that could hurt others, or be used to do so, he's not going to keep quiet, though.

I'm pretty sure Bat and Hawk have gone a few rounds.\

One more thing - Bat'ai's markings are identical to his icon, four spots to the side and below his left eye, and a more flowing pattern on the right side of his face and along his throat. These spots are intermittent around his body, but he doesn't often go naked enough for them to be seen. Also, his eyes are violet, glowing a little when he regenerates.

With any luck, I will be putting up his debut tonight when the heathens are settled for the night.

If you'd like your character to have met Bat prior to his debut, hit me up!

Greetings, Sanctuary people!

I am so excited to be joining this game and bringing you my most favorite of all Jedi. Aayla Secura. For those of you only familiar with the star wars movies, Aayla is a character from the Clone Wars comics. She's SUCH a great comics character, in fact, that they wrote her into the movies! No lines, sadly, but damn if she doesn't look awesome. ;)

I'll be setting up her wiki page at some point today and hopefully posting a debut thread. I'm bringing her from the end of Attack of the Clones, during the huge battle in the arena, so if you are familiar with the character from the cartoons? (Did I mention she's also in the cartoons? She is.) None of that has happened to her yet. Anyway, YAY! I'm so happy to be here and I can't wait to play with you all.

Intro-ish!

Hey guys!

Allie here with my new-to-main-comms pup Alice Liddell. She comes from a horror game version of grown-up Alice from Wonderland called Alice Madness Returns and the previous game, American McGee's Alice, and I'm really excited to play her.

Things to know about Alice:

* Wonderland is her mindscape, and it was ruined by her therapist; she recently saved it, but it's not the same anymore
* Alice killed said therapist by pushing him onto the railroad tracks in the real world -- but not for ruining Wonderland; he had raped and killed her sister, burned down her family home killing her parents, and tried to mindwipe her and the other orphans at the home he ran so he could sell them as prostitutes. Alice remembered/realized this as she defeated his avatar in Wonderland
* Alice is only dangerous if you're threatening someone who can't take care of themselves or who she cares about; watch out for the Vorpal Blade
* Alice is not as mad as she thinks she is, but she is depressive, passively suicidal, and occasionally delusional; most of what seems like madness is just that Alice doesn't have an inside/outside voice and she's both incredibly intelligent and extremely inexperienced
* Alice is blunt and can be bitchy; she is not me. If you or your character gets your feelings hurt, please, pretty please, talk to me. I don't mind pup drama but I abhor person drama
* Alice has the potential to step into other peoples' minds and manipulate them. She doesn't know it yet, so she won't be manipulating your pups. However, if you'd like to explore that, let me know!

Hiya. I literally just got accepted so I haven't got stuff set up yet but I will do that over the next few days.

Anyway.

Hi. I'm Nat. Things about me? Um. I'm a Londoner, though I live in Chicago with my spouse, my metamour, and our two cats. I'm queer and genderqueer/non-binary (I use they/them pronouns).

I arrive with William Sherlock Scott Holmes (or just Sherlock Holmes, as he'd much prefer). This is Sherlock Holmes fresh out of university, before 221b, before Dr John Watson. I'll make a debut post for him soon but this week is weirdly busy for me (I guess not that weird considering Pride). Usually I spend most of the weekdays (before people get home from work) hanging around watching telly and playing video games, so that's when I'm best able to do tags. Yes, I am 24 years old...

I'm probably best reached either on twitter or via email, though I'm going to try this Slack thing.

Apologies

Hi all. I just wanted to apologize for the inconsistency of my tagging for the last few weeks. Summer tends to get busy for me in general, and the last six days I've been out of town for various cons (ComicCon in Denver (for fun!), and then DockerCon in Seattle (for work)). I didn't plan to take a hiatus while I was gone, but I've been struggling to get back to an even keel for months (there's a fair amount of upheaval going on around me, mostly at work) and I was hit unexpectedly hard by recent, non-personal tragedies, which knocked the wind out of me even more.

I'm headed home to Colorado today and I hope to get back into the swing of things the back half of this week. Again, I'm sorry for being so flakey.

Plot Invitation: Ghost Ship

Hey all!

Allie here. Alicia and I have been working up a plot for Sabine and Scott that we'd like to invite you to join!

The basics of the plot are simple:

1. An autopiloted ship comes in with only dead bodies on it.
2. And ghosts.
3. The ghosts get loose in the station and cause various types of havoc.
4. One ghost in particular is very sticky because he had mental powers while alive, and he has no interest in being dead, so he keeps possessing people and Sabine keeps driving him out.
5. Eventually, he possesses Scott and tries to use Scott's force-blasts to kill Sabine.
6. Sabine defeats the ghost but it can't be killed.
7. Weakened, it hangs around as an NPC that can be used later for other plots with Sabine.

Here's where the invitation part comes in:
1. Station personnel to find the bodies and casually spread the news.
2. People to talk about the bodies, speculate on what happened.
3. Encounters with ghosts that stop short of possession.
4. People to be possessed--either by the ultimate evil ghost or by other ghosts, and cause incidents or need Sabine's help.
5. People with relevant abilities or strengths to help Sabine keep Scott contained and banish the ghost.

I want to stress that the invitation here is wide open. If you want to play, if you have a thought, if you have a question or a concern? Feel free to voice it. I absolutely can run this plot in a way that only uses NPCs, Scott and Sabine, but there's room for anyone who might want to participate, whether they know me or Sabine or Alicia or Scott or not. And if you want to play but you're not sure how your character could fit, drop me a note here or elsewhere (Sabine's mailbox, my email, Slack DM), and I will find a way.

Every single player or character who wants to participate in these shenanigans will be accommodated. No exceptions. There is room for everyone.

Communication Preferences!

Hello lovely players!

Okay so there's been some discussion about the way we're communicating outside (and inside) the game.

Now - before we get started: The Mods would like to make it clear that all in and out-of-game communication is entirely at the players discretion. (With the exception of replying to mod emails. We'd really like you to respond to those, please and thank you!) No one should feel any pressure to communicate in a way they do not feel comfortable with or would have a negative impact on their lives/mental well-being. We all live in the digital age and we all know how overwhelming it can be to be flooded by these things.

So! These are our current ways of player to player communication:

Slack - general chat for all players.

OOC Comm - for anything game/player related, plotting, new character intros, hiatus notices, slowatus notices and the like.

Playground Comm - Memes, Character Tryouts, anything else we think of that's fun down the road.

Twitter - Twitter Tracker (thank you Lacy!) for all comms, personal twitter for players.

Mod Email - for game-wide announcements.

Couple of notes on those things:

Slack: If anyone is missing an invite and would like one, please let the mods know either here or in the modly email! There's already been one case of a players invite being eaten so it's possible you've had one and it's gone missing or been munched by an overzealous spam filter. Just to be clear though: THIS IS OPTIONAL.

Comms: Now again, this is discretionary, but we strongly recommend you track the game, ooc and playground comms. Especially if you decide Slack isn't for you. This way you don't miss any of the funtimes!

As a side note here, the OOC comm is probably the best place for plotting and general discussion about the game. This is where the Mods will be putting game announcements and such, so it makes sense to have it all in one place.

Intro!

Hi, although I'm supposed to be slow, I couldn't resist apping my latest character. Meet Leonard Snart, from DC's The Flash/Legends of Tomorrow. For those who are canon blind, Len here is a criminal, king of snark, a general bad guy, super villain (hey, he has a super villain name in Captain Cold), who somehow has this annoying... streak of goodness in him. Some might even say he's becoming a hero... He'd probably shoot you for that. He has a cold gun that emits a beam of absolute zero matter that will pretty much be permanently holstered to him.

Now obviously, Len here is a little light fingered.

I do have a WIP permissions page in his journal, or feel free to shoot me a PM or email on kirsteena @ gmail.com. He will no doubt get into trouble, but on a place like this, who can blame him? I will work with anyone to make sure the CR is what you expect it to be. Truth be told, he's getting a little bit bored of the stealing game - but he is so very, very good at it.

I know I've sort of talked to a lot of you about CR, and I'm looking forward to it all!

Hi guys, it's Rachel with my new pup from Teen Wolf, Cora Hale.

Cora is a born werewolf that comes from a short time after the events of the mid-season finale of season three of Teen Wolf. I've wanted to play her for a really long time so I'm really looking forward to introducing her into Sanctuary and I hope to play with all of you lots and lots.
